Bananafishbones – When you pass by Tour 2007

Sunday, March 18. 2007

Last week I visited the concert of the Bavarian group Bananafishbones in Bamberg. I was not only present there to get some pictures for the homepage of the Live-Club (the place where the band was playing), but also to enjoy myself by listening to the music of their new record. To most of the people the Bananafishbones are only known through one ore two songs, which were really successful in Germany. The first one “Come to sin” was published as song for a Germany wide advertisement for a fashion label. Peter HornLater the relaxed country song “Easy day” (featuring Franka Potente) achieved country wide attention. But in between those songs and the current record the band was not inactive. They created soundtracks for the movies “Die Wilden Kerle 1-4” and “Open Water 2”. The Bananafishbones are a very versatile band, which can’t be categorized into a specific genre. My friend Daniel, who wrote an review for Feki.de, describes it as “atmospheric rock, punk-country, jazz-rock, avantgardist”. I was really surprised how the band consisting of only three people with three instruments managed to play such versatile and varied songs. I'll do a review of their album, as soon as I get hold of it. Meanwhile have a look at the "Best of" of my concert pictures.

Birthday invitation

Friday, January 26. 2007

On Monday I'll have to chance my about page and state my age as 28. This is the reason why I invited my friends for a drink to the Live Club on Monday. If I forgot you - take this as an invitation. Attached the original invitation text:

Geburtstag feiern, Mo, 29.01. Live Club

Jürgen Hösch (Feki.de) [juergen.hoesch-at-feki.de]

Hallo Zusammen,

Thx

Sandkerwa – Day 5 – @the Glubb / the bike incident

Monday, September 4. 2006

pauleI’ll rather not write too many details on the Sandkerwa-Monday since my vision got slightly blurred on that day ;-) I started slowly and late into the kerwa day meeting paule at the Markushaus around 9pm. Our blogger-friends were already about to finish their first beer when we met them beneath the Markus-bridge. We then headed for the Live-Club since they had the usual Monday’s deal there: all drinks half price!

Strolling through the streets we didn’t meet too many people – no wonder since the weather was quite cold and rainy. Entering the Live-Club we were the first guests there.. Luckily the music of DJ Hannes could entertain us very well. I took the chance and bought the promised liquors for my friends.

Fireworks in BambergDuring the evening I visited the Haas-Säle twice and also managed to see the fireworks from the street. Certainly after the fireworks, the first empty Live-Club got filled by a stream of people and we had a great time celebrating with a lot of friends from Feki.de.

After leaving the Live-Club our next target was the Morph-Club – but lost our Wikinger on the way there. Discussing in front of the Morph-Club whether paule would join us I met a passing acquaintance who was desperately seeking for a bike. Obviously he needed the bike to meet a friend (female) at the “city beach”, which is quite a distance from the Morph-Club. I could be convinced to lend him the bike in exchange for a car key as deposit. When I got back to my friends paule had already headed home. Suddenly I didn’t feel like paying an huge amount of money to enter the Morph-Club and decided to follow paule.

I didn't regret to go home early and the next morning I collected my bike in front of the Morph-Club - like agreed upon - now I only have to arrange a key-axchange with this fella.

A rough start into the week

Wednesday, January 18. 2006

Monday and Tuesday were definitely two of those days, which I can look back to and tap my own shoulders, that I made it through them. The main plot for them has been laid out on Sunday afternoon. I had decided not to do some sightseeing in Zürich with our party crowd, and stayed at “home” to go through the exercise sheets I have to asses for my Anwendungspakete-tutorial. This decision was strategically important, to give me a little buffer for Monday (and it probably saved me some 80 Franken, which five of my friends hat to pay for fare-dodging in Zürich). After dropping Tanja in Stuttgart, and having trouble with the Navigation-System in Christian’s car, we arrived Bamberg as late as quarter to midnight, I just fell into my bed and slept until late Monday morning. Luckily I managed to finish the assessment of the exercise sheets before noon. But the preparation for my GBIS-Tutorial could have been better… However, Jochen and I did a decent job, and the raised problem will be easily solved next Monday. After the tutorial I had a meeting with Susann scheduled, where she wanted to help me on my SPSS problems for my U3 seminar. Unluckily, she was busy at that time, luckily she referred me to Nadja who is even more into SPSS. That meeting solved a few issues, but also opened a lot of new question. Afterwards I had to hurry for my Anwendungspakete-tutorial. Although the new exercise sheet was out, most of the people were only interested to hear their assessment, and left immediately after getting their results. The remaining evening was stuffed with to dos, too. Visiting the futuredays lecture about nano technologies, meet my new flatmate Juliane, prepare my talk for the U3 Seminar, visit Tim’s birthday party. Somehow I managed to deal with everything and the beer at the Luitpold café, were Tim was celebrating was well earned. Anna later convinced me to join the party crowd, which was moving to the Live Club. Regarding my talk on Tuesday morning this was not a very good idea – but in the retrospective I would not have had the chance to meet this girl… Anyway. No tequila next Monday! And no reason to meet cold ducks again this year.
Tuesday morning I got up at nine, and got ready for my seminar. I was there on time, and the atmosphere was good. I managed to become last presenting, and did quite well. The devastating critic I expected did not take place. Following up dinner was another seminar, which went quite well, too. At this point I was quite exhausted, but I had scheduled a appointment with Georg to exchange last weekends pictures, so I could not drive home yet.
At around 5pm I finally started for Truppach, where I was going with my brother’s car in order to collect my desk. In the morning driving through dense snow with a bycicle was not too much fun. Now driving home over a closed blanket of snow with a rear-wheel drive was no fun, too. But after one hour of driving I reached my parents home. After a good dinner I couldn’t do much more than a little chit-chat, email correspondence and went to bed early.
