Getting ready for some action!

Thursday, March 30. 2006

Saturday I’ll be going for a long awaited holiday. Well… actually I was quite lucky, that it could be arranged. I will go skiing with Feki.de next week in Laax. So I’m at home now at my parents' and I’m getting my car and my equipment ready for the departure on Saturday afternoon.

1Y

Wednesday, March 29. 2006

Initially I planned for an euphoric post about finishing my first year as a blogger yesterday. Due to personal reasons I’m not very euphoric at the moment. At least not to write some great posts on all of those little things that made my last year of blogging to an exceptional experience. Atm those little joys are somewhat subdued. But I will try to get back to you with a report on those various aspects about blogging, after clearing my mind a little bit.

Anyway, gratulations for keeping up blogging will be appreciated.

Dido - Sand in my shoes

Tuesday, March 28. 2006

Two weeks away it feels like the world should've changed
But I'm home now
And things still look the same
I think I'll leave it to tomorrow till unpack
Try to forget for one more night
That I'm back in my flat on the road
Where the cars never stop going through the night
To real life where I can't watch sunset
I don't have time
I don't have time

[Chorus:]
I've still got sand in my shoes
And I can't shake the thought of you

I shake it all, forget you
Why, why would I want to
I know we said goodbye

Anything else would've been confused but I wanna see you again

Tomorrow's back to work down to sanitation
should've run back ?? before I left here
Try to Mama show her that I was happy here
Before I knew that I could get on the plane and fly away

From the road where the cars never stop going through the night
To real life where I can't watch sunset
And take my time
Take up our time

[Chorus]

I wanna see you again
Two weeks away, all it takes to change in time around by falling

I walked away and never said that I wanted to see again

[Chorus x2]

I wanna see you again
I wanna see you again

When I came home from Malaysia, I listened to this song quite a few times. At this time it was because of that "holiday topic" that is covered in the lyrics of this song: You return home and you still feel the warmth of the holidays. Listening to this song I felt that warmth. So I attributed quite some good feelings to this song. My friends in BA and my family helped my to feel the warmth of home, after I had returned and the visions of what I had lost softly blurred...

Listening to this song now... gets me almost to hate it. Feelings about "wanderlust " and love are something completely different..

1Y - Great Update

Monday, March 27. 2006

During the last weeks, and especially last week I managed to get some major updates done at both Blog script and image gallery. You might want to look for some of the features:

  • Gallery: Fullscreen javascript slide show works
  • Gallery: Latest comments to images can be viewed
  • Blog: Switched to 3 column layout. Since almost everybody has a screen resolution of 1024x768 anyway, I decided, to get my blog a little more sorted. Unluckily, IE6 still has some problems with my style sheet.. I’m trying to get that issue fixed.
  • Blog: Logged in edtors don’t need to put in captchas for comments anymore (ok, this is rather only an update for me)
  • Blog: Pimped up my Blogroll. Icons for the blog language, and the country where the blogger resides in have been added
  • Blog: Better comment spam protection
  • Blog: Publicon-Style Link Icons + You are invited to link my Blog via this icon:
  • Blog: Added Audio-Scrobbler-Plugin - You can see the music to which I’m listening now
  • Blog: Started freestyle-tagging my entries and added tag-cloud
  • Blog: Added my latest del.icio.us Links

150(!) quotes at the Feki.de chat.

Thursday, March 23. 2006

Ok. I will keep it short for the moment. HERE is the long awaited .xls-sheet. Explanation will be written later.

The Feki.de chat provides students of the University of Bamberg the possibility to talk to people like them over the internet. The chat has been established about two years ago. Where at the beginning was only a group of just a few Feki.de users and moderators, now a decent group of regular users occupies the chat to talk about there problems, or just to kill time. Within this time remarkable quotations have been added to the channel-bot’s memory. The above excel list gives an overview about the now 150(!) quotations which have been stored. Some of them are only funny knowing the context, but many are just interesting without further explanation. I did also start to make a little analyses on the quotes but... well.. that's a little time consuming.

Nightly TV

Thursday, March 23. 2006

I’m sure if our country will not die out due to the luck of people who manage it to have a family and children, this will happen because of stultification.
I more or less took the last two days off, to have a little “holiday” – no obligations to take care of, nothing specific to do… just some internet surfing, enjoy a few podcasts and of course some TV. Since I don’t own a own TV, I have to take advantage of occasions when I can watch TV. So I was watching music videos for almost the entire afternoon. And in the evening some detective stories on TV caught my attention. Then I got a piece of advice for a movie involving the US-Army just before the fall of the Berlin Wall. So time passed by pretty fast and I ended up watching the “Zeitspiegel”. This is quite an interesting magazine program of the Bayerischer Rundfunk. But after this quite sophisticated program I was really struck, about the offerings of the private TV channels… Two channels were offering some astrology programs, one was advertising a stupid sms-chat about shallow sex-topics, and a last one broadcasted a really stupid quiz-voting program. Is this the future of our independent TV? No wonder that barely no one in our society cares about topics like globalisation, if they are trying to figure out how to put jumbled letters into the right order..

The test of faithfulness

Wednesday, March 22. 2006

Today I found an interesting podcast. Unluckily it is in German. It is from a German radio station which has a show, where you can call, and the show-makers will afterwards contact your partner and check whether he is faithfull. Download it here.
