Back to "Hotel Mama" / 2 weeks left

Thursday, March 31. 2005

Interesting.. there was an article in the news yesterday, that men move out of their parents home later than women. Think i made an average score moving out to study in Bamberg. But now I'm back. At least for the next two weeks.

It was a strange feeling yesterday to sleep in my room in Bamberg, which was already empty. Even stranger to leave it forever, when left I left.

In 2 weeks I will already be on Malaysian ground! Somehow this still seems far away.. but since the last week passed so fast, i expect the next two weeks to fly by even faster.

Image Gallery up!

Saturday, March 26. 2005

Since i'll need a way to document my stay in malysia with images i set up a neat image gallery which will allow me to publish some images. Right now just the camera to make those images is missing.. But i'll solve this problem, too.

Visit the image gallery with pictures of the Snow&Fun event here.

About this blog

Wednesday, March 23. 2005

I’m a 28 year old student of the University of Bamberg. After studying information systems I decided to take a second degree in economics and business education. I’ve been spending six month in Malaysia, doing an internship for Siemens. I have set up this blog to keep in touch with my friends in Germany. This blog is not only meant to purpose for one-way communication, but also to discuss and talk! So feel free to comment and talk about everything. I will use the blog as a diary, and supply daily reports on what is happening in my life.

I also installed an image gallery to give you picture coverage. I will always try to get links between posts and pictures. Since pictures might take a little longer, or will get shot afterwards, it might be worth looking back through my posts from time to time to check whether there are some updates.

Now have fun reading my blog, and be invited, to use comments on this post to leave me some greetings :-)

Upcoming journeys

Since planing in simple tables is a little complicated I swapped the details into an excel sheet. This page is now updated for all the planned destinations! Still will need the following days to gather some Links on some of the targets. Good information on most of the targets can be obtained through the Lonely Planet guide book anyway.

Targets near and around KL

Batu caves, are a holy place for Hindu people, I already visited them here.

The Forest research Institute of Malaysia invites to hike, and to learn more about the Malaysian Rainforest.

The Lake Gardens Bird Park in KL offers a great variety of different species.

Cameron Highlands

The Cameron Highlands is a region in Malaysia, which is on a higher ground. The heights raise up to over 2000m and therefore the area is a little cooler then the rest of the country. (you can calculate that 100m in height make a temperature difference of 0.5 degrees, so you can expect refreshing temperatures there. In the Cameron highlands many things are grown, that don't get along with the warm temperatures, which reign the rest of the country. So you can find not only tea, but also strawberry fields there. I borrowed Lonely Planets info about Cameron Highlands here.

Tasik Temenggor

Lake Temenggor is a man made Lake in the heart of the province Perak. Interesting is the area because of its genuine forrests, and the Orang Asli a natural tribe lives there.

Pulau Perhentian

Said to be one of the most beautiful Islands of Malaysia. Info's are here.

Kota Kina Balu

Travel to Sabah Northern Borneo (Kota Kinabalu) problably visit of Mount Kinabalu (see Wikitravel on Mt. Kinabalu)

Pulau Langkawi

General information for my visitors:
